As part of the 2020 Public Works Improvement Project, the Village of Waunakee will be resurfacing several streets in Waunakee.  The project has been publicly bid and the Village Board awarded the project to Payne & Dolan, from Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

The contractors will mill off the existing asphalt pavement, complete any street base repairs (as needed), and re-grade the street in preparation for the new asphalt surface.  In order to accommodate the construction activities, these streets will be closed to thru traffic and a “no parking” restriction will be in effect from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily for the duration of the project.  The Contractor will make every effort to make the roadway passable to homeowners at the end of each day.  However, there may be times when access to your property may not be possible.  Also, please be aware that travel within the construction zone will be at your own risk.

JOHN STREET (Update 09/01/20)
From Dorn Drive to Raymond Road

John Street is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks, and we anticipate that the work should be completed in approximately 2 – 3 weeks, weather permitting.

John Street will be resurfaced from Dorn Drive to Raymond Road and is scheduled to begin soon.  The Contractors will be milling and pulverizing the existing asphalt pavements, completing any street base (gravel) repairs, utility repairs and adjustments (as needed), and re-grading the street in preparation for the new asphalt surface.

In order to accommodate the construction activities, and for the safety of the workers, we ask that you please be aware of the construction equipment and workers, and limit the use of the street during construction hours (7am – 7pm).  The streets will remain open to vehicular travel throughout the project.  However, drivers may encounter lane restrictions and possible minor delays during the construction.  The Contractor will make every effort to provide access to driveways during the project and at the end of each day.  Also, please be aware that travel within the construction zone will be at your own risk.

In order to provide the best possible asphalt surface, and for the safety of the workers, the street will be closed to ALL traffic during the placement of the second and FINAL layer of asphalt surface, and for a few hours after completion until the pavement has sufficiently cooled.  The exact paving schedule for the FINAL surface is not known at this time, so please watch for progress updates on the Village web site, the arrival of the asphalt paving crew and vehicles, and notices posted on or near the street closure limits.  In order to minimize any potential damage to the new asphalt surface, we ask your cooperation to restrict your vehicular travel on the newly paved street until the barricades and/or caution tape are removed and the street is again open to traffic.

PARKVIEW CIRCLE SURFACING
Update 07/29/20

The final surface asphalt paving on Parkview Circle is tentatively scheduled to begin in the next few weeks, as the Contractor completes the work on another portion of the overall project.   The asphalt paving and preparation work is anticipated to be completed in a few days, weather permitting.

The contractors will clean the existing asphalt surface, complete any needed repairs and manhole adjustments, and prepare the street for the new asphalt surface.  To accommodate the construction activities, a “no parking” restriction will be in effect from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily for the duration of the project, once the no parking signs and asphalt paving notices have been posted.

In order to provide the best possible asphalt surface, and for the safety of the workers, Parkview Circle will be closed to ALL traffic during the placement of the final asphalt surface, and for a few hours after completion, until the pavement has sufficiently cooled.  The exact paving schedule is not known at this time, so please watch for progress updates on the Village web site, the activity of the asphalt paving crew and vehicles, and signs posted along the cul-de-sac.  To minimize any potential damage to the new asphalt surface, we ask your cooperation to restrict your vehicular travel until the barricades are pulled back and the street is again open to traffic.

We do not anticipate a disruption of U.S. Mail deliveries or Refuse pick-up during the asphalt surfacing.

Chip Seal

Chip Sealing

The Village will be chip sealing several streets to prolong the life of the roadways. For a complete list of streets click here...

Chip Sealing is a pavement surface treatment that combines one or more layer(s) of asphalt with one or more layer(s) of fine aggregate. Chipseals are typically used on roads carrying lower traffic volumes, and the process is often referred to as "asphaltic surface treatment".

Chipseals are constructed by evenly distributing a thin base of hot bitumen or asphalt onto an existing pavement and then embedding finely graded aggregate into it. The aggregate is evenly distributed over the seal spray, then rolled into a smooth pavement surface. It can keep pavement in good condition longer by sealing out water and repairing minor cracks.
