Department Information

The Waunakee Police Department has 20 full time Police Officers. This includes 1 Chief, 2 Lieutenants, 4 Sergeants, 11 Patrol Officers, 1 Detective, and 1 Police School Liaison Officer. To view a current department roster click here.
The office is staffed by 2 full time employees. In 2014 office staff handled over 8,000 phone calls and 2,400 walk in customers. All 911 calls go directly to the Dane County Communication Center located in Madison, Wisconsin.

We provide 24 hour a day protection for Waunakee's 2015 population of 13,100 residents. Officers patrol over 200 streets, multiple businesses, and many parks. Officers have over 20,000 contacts annually with individuals. The department provides many community policing programs including; National Night Out, Bicycle Rodeo, Citizen's Academy, Shop with a Cop, and White Collar Crime Symposiums.
